Oracle, the developer of Java, <...>
adds 14 updates to Java SE while Apple keeps its own version on Mac OS X, fixes 11 corresponding to the same vulnerabilities. It is not clear whether Apple will need to correct the remaining three vulnerabilities.
Apple took six weeks to publish the Java fixes after Oracle had already released the updates. This was one of the reasons that the type virus Trojan, by name Flashback, managed to spread to approximately 600.000 Macs.
