YouTube Premium: Zoom in on videos with the new experimental mode

YouTube is testing a new mobile app feature with its premium subscribers that lets them zoom in on any video. As noted by 9to5Google, the latest experimental option enables a pinch-to-zoom gesture for videos — and it works in both portrait and full-screen landscape views.

According to the company, the zoom feature will remain in testing until September 1, giving YouTube about a month to gather user feedback and improve things before probably circulate more widely.

To enable the pinch to zoom feature, open the YouTube settings menu either on your phone or from the website. As long as you are subscribed to YouTube Premium, there should be a “try new features” section. Right now, the only one available ability to test is the zoom function. It seems it can to exist delay between taking part in the test and being able to use the pinch gesture, as we were unable to use it immediately after enabling it. But once it's active, you should be able to zoom up to 8x.

There are already ways to zoom in on YouTube content with various accessibility features Android and iOS, and apparently it's very easy to do in a desktop browser. But having it as optional inherent characteristic in practice for mobile phones it's even more convenient.
