Scientists describe in detail the exoplanet GJ 367b

Scientists are getting better at analyzing exoplanets and that leads to some amazing discoveries. According to Reuters, a group led by him DLR found that the relatively near (31 light-years) planet GJ 367b is significantly smaller than Earth at 5.592 miles, but is denser than Earth - it is about as dense as iron, and 86 percent of the exoplanet is made of metal. The exoplanet looks more like Mercury than the world of humanity.

Ο GJ 367b for sure it is not habitable. It also moves around its star in a very short time, ie about 7,7 hours and the radiation is so intense that it could reach up to 2.732 degrees Fahrenheit. This is enough to melt metals and stones, and certainly would not allow life as we know it. To compare the theme of the year with a planet we know, Mercury has a year lasting 88 days.

However, the analysis alone is remarkable. GJ 367b is the smallest exoplanet ever analyzed in so much detail and this could help search for more habitable exoplanets, understand planet formation and even measure habitable criteria. These, in turn, could help astronomers determine whether or not the relatively life-friendly Solar System is as rare as it seems.
