Google: Return to offices postponed again

Google reportedly sent an email to employees on Thursday, stating that The various offices may decide on the return of staff, based on the measures and conditions in force in each area in relation to COVID-19.

Both Google and other well-known technology companies have changed the schedule of returning to offices many times, as the coronavirus continues to spread and new mutations appear.

According to a Google representative, the company will wait until the new year to assess when to return to the offices. "We will determine when the offices will reopen and start the hybrid work based on the local conditions, which are quite different. Our goal is to provide more options and flexibility. We give the opportunity to return to the office as many employees as they want, when this is possible, while we allow those who are not ready (for the return), to continue working from home".

Google said in the email that it has safely reopened more than 90% of offices in the US and almost 40% of employees are already going there. When other employees start returning, they will be given a 30-day transition period to get used to a hybrid work model. The company requires most employees to be in the office at least three days a week.

Other large companies have also announced that returning to offices will be delayed even further. THE Apple delays the mandatory return at least until February.
