OVH down: OVH, a French cloud computing company offering VPS, dedicated servers and other web services, is experiencing a general blackout with thousands of websites being offline from 9:30 a.m. this Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
A few days before the OVHCloud IPO, which is scheduled for this Friday at Euronext Paris, the websites hosted on OVH show malfunctions from 9:30 am on Wednesday, October 13th.
In a Twitter post, Octave Klaba, Chairman of the Board of OVH, states the following about the connection problems:
"In recent days, the intensity of DDoS attacks has increased dramatically. We decided to increase DDoS processing capacity by adding new infrastructure to DC VH (US-EST). "A bad configuration of the router caused the network to fail."
As of 9:30 a.m., many sites have stopped responding. It is not possible to know the reasons for this failure at this time, but DownDetector confirms access problems. This failure affects all OVHCloud servers, including their institutional website.
According to OVHCloud, an update to a router was scheduled this morning, which in theory should not result in service outages. However, on Twitter, one user pointed out that it was possible to connect to the Gravelines datacenter using IPv6, IPv4 routing.
Which website is offline
The current outage is even bigger than the fire that hit the OVHCloud data centers as it seems to be affecting the global network. The data.gouv.fr website, hosted by OVH, is no longer accessible, as are the Simplified procedures site, Strasbourg airport site, Interflora sales site, etc.
