Η Tencent announced her plans to buy the british Gaming company, Sumo Group, for 1,27 billions of dollars.
Based in Sheffield, England, the main studio Sumo Digital Sumo Group has contracted for many of the bigger names in gaming. Sumo Group has developed its title Sony PlayStation 5, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and was the main studio behind it Crackdown 3 for Microsoft Xbox consoles. Also in 2017 Sumo released Snake Pass for many platforms.
"The three founders of Sumo, the Paul Porter, The Darren Mills me too, we are passionate about what we do and we are totally committed and we want to continue our roles", Says the CEO of Sumo, Carl Cavers. "The opportunity to work with Tencent was something we could not miss. It will give another dimension to Sumo and give us opportunities to establish ourselves in this amazing industry, in ways that were previously inaccessible".

The acquisition of Sumo Group does Tencent even stronger in the international gaming industry. The Chinese company has already made some significant investments in companies such as Epic, Riot, Activision and Ubisoft.
"Tencent intends to bring its know-how and resources to accelerate Sumo growth both in the UK and abroad, making the UK a hub for innovation in the gaming industry", Says the chief strategy officer of Tencent, James Mitchell. "We believe that the proposed transaction benefits all interested parties".
This is the second billion-dollar deal involving a British gaming company this year. THE EA completed its acquisition Codemasters on February.
