With iOS 14.5, Siri supports emergency contact calling. All you have to do is say "Siri, call my emergency contact" and your virtual assistant will know how to call whoever you have registered with this title. This the feature works whether you need help yourself or someone else. But to work properly, you should make sure on the one hand that your emergency contacts are up to date and Secondly that Siri is enabled on your iPhone. But let's look in more detail at the steps you need to follow.
1) Make an emergency contact
In order for your virtual assistant to call an emergency contact, you must first define one. First, go to Health app (Health application) and click on the profile icon in the right corner. Then press Medical ID (Medical ID), the button "Processing" and scroll down to "Emergency contacts".
Just press the green symbol "plus" To add an emergency contact, you can scroll through your contact list or search for a specific person. You will then be asked to identify your relationship with this person. Then press "End" and your contacts will be saved.
You can also access your emergency contacts by going to Settings> Emergency SOS> Emergency Contacts> Emergency Contact Processing in Health.
Each time you use Emergency SOS on your iPhone, your emergency contacts will receive a message informing them that you called emergency services, along with your location.
2) Check your Siri settings
You also need to make sure your virtual assistant is up and running. Go to Settings> Siri & Search and switch to Listen to "Hey Siri", "Press the Siri Side Button" and "Allow Siri Locked". This way, in case of an emergency, you (or whoever is helping you at the moment) will be able to access the voice in many ways assistant you.
3) Say "Siri, call my emergency contact"
Once you have set up both your emergency contacts and your virtual assistant, the feature is easy to use. If you are ever in danger, all you need to say is "Hey Siri, call my emergency contact". The feature also works for those who need help - if, for example, someone is unconscious, anyone around them can use their phone and the same Siri command to make the call instead.
