GeckoLinux: Update with GNOME 3.38, KDE 5.21

Last year, openSUSE-based GeckoLinux arrived with a renewed ISO after two years.

Continuing its regular release, the developers have now announced a new version 999.210221 for all ROLLING versions based on openSUSE Tumbleweed.

The latest snapshot created directly from the unmodified openSUSE Tumbleweed and Packman repositories comes with a new version of many available desktop environments.


For example, KDE Plasma 5.21 applications with Framework 5.79.0 and KDE 20.12, GNOME 3.38, Xfce 4.16, Cinnamon 4.8.6, Mate 1.24.1 and LXQt 0.16.

In addition, it also upgraded the Budgie desktop, which was revived last year, to the latest version v10.5.2 with improved Nemo desktop icon behavior and eliminated transparency from below panel for the better visibility and contrast.

GeckoLinux has also continued to offer proprietary multimedia formats, hardware drivers, firmware and add-ons. multimedia applications installed by the user, which now operate automatically with limited multimedia encoders.

Finally, "ROLLING" now has predefined repositories Google and Skype for optional installation. As you may know, you can easily install third-party RPM packages using the graphical package manager YaST.
