Microsoft announced that the new Premium level for managed network security service based on the cloud Azure Firewall was released today as a public preview.
Azure Firewall requires zero maintenance and provides clients with protection on Azure Virtual Network resources, as well as unlimited cloud scalability and seamless deployment.
Azure Firewall Premium Public Preview adds new features required by highly sensitive and configurable environments.
"Azure Firewall Premium uses Firewall Policy, a global resource that can be used to centrally manage firewalls using Azure Firewall Manager," Microsoft said.
"Starting this release, all new features will be configured only through the Firewall Policy. This includes TLS Inspection, IDPS, URL filtering, web categories and more. ”
Customers will still be able to use Firewall Rules (Classic) for configuration existing functions for Standard Firewall, while the Firewall Policy can be managed independently or with the help of Azure Firewall manager.
TLS Inspection blocks malware from being transmitted through encrypted connections, and IDPS (shortcut for intrusion detection and prevention system) helps detect and block malicious traffic and activities.
To deploy and configure Azure Firewall Premium Preview, you need a free Azure account and subscription.
Microsoft provides template required to develop a complete Azure Firewall Premium test environment.
