The users platforms they usually want to be shown proof of reading to know when the recipient is reading a message. However, there are users who do not want this feature enabled. If you use Microsoft Teams and belong to the second category of users, you can now turn off instant read receipts messages.
By default, Microsoft Teams users can turn off reading receipts, but managers they can change it to enable reading proofs. If so, you can not turn them off, but you can avoid it Mission them, to some extent.
How to turn off reading receipts
In Microsoft Teams, click picture of Profile in the upper right corner of the window and select "Settings".

How to avoid sending reading receipts
If administrators have "forced" read receipts to be enabled for everyone, then you will not be able to disable this setting. However, reading receipts are only activated when you open a conversation, so as long as you do not open the conversation, a reading receipt will not be sent.

To do this, click on your profile picture in the upper right corner of the window and select "Settings".

Open the tab "Notifications" and then click "Processing" next to the selection "Conversation".

Make sure that “@Mentions” is set to “Banner and Feed” and “Replies” is set to “Banner”.

This way, you can see chat messages in pop-ups alerts without activating the reading receipt. You can even reply from the notification preview without activating the reading receipt, although once you reply, it will be obvious that you have read the message anyway.
