The Exynos 2100 seems to be the best chip Samsung has ever released.
It has the ARM Cortex-X1 core with three other Cortex-A78 cores and four A55 cores that are less demanding with your battery. It also features an ARM Mali-G78 GPU for 40% better graphics than the latest generation, a three-core NPU for better AI in the device, features 5G technology and is based on Samsung's 5nm technology process to save even more battery life.
You'll see it on Samsung's best phones - including the upcoming one Galaxy S21. In a world where no one cares about the chip in their phone and how much better one brand is over another, that would be great and everyone would be satisfied.

But here is the issue. We care that another brand that makes chips has marginally better AI reaction times, it pulls better photos, has better 3D graphics, has a better battery life and tears in terms of connectivity, especially species LTE and 5G. As you can see, we are talking about Qualcomm Snapdragon.
The reason why the latest Snapdragon is a better chip than the latest Exynos is no secret. THE Qualcomm is a company that specializes in the sale of mobile chips and its chips are really its only focus. Of course the company has tried to deal with and with other sectors but does not have them succeeds with success.
But Samsung is not just making laptops chipset. Here's the conclusion no one really wants to hear: the Exynos SoC exists only to save money on Samsung high-end and mid-range phones.
In some countries, Samsung will have to license Qualcomm modem technology to even try to compete with the latest Snapdragon SoC (System on a Chip). To make things easier, Samsung provides just one Snapdragon SoC on the phones in those parts of the world - especially in North America. Elsewhere, the phones are equipped with an Exynos chip, which automatically acquire a lot cheaper price.
Samsung could buy a Snapdragon 888 for every phone model in every country and everything would go well. Of course their price would automatically increase so the company would not be able to be competitive and have earnings.

Do not misunderstand us - the Exynos 2100 will be a good chip and will power many devices. It will probably be upgraded and paired with an AMD GPU to power the Galaxy Z Fold 3. But there will be differences in performance compared to a model with a Snapdragon 888.
Millions of people living outside of North America will buy a Samsung phone with Exynos chip and will love it because the chip works really well. Maybe the people they should not be obsessed with their phone having the best chip. We are sure that few would understand them various between two identical phones with different chips.
