There are many video calling apps to choose from, but the Google Duo may be the simplest. Works with iPhone, iPad and Android devices, even on the web in a browser. We will show you how it works in the latter.
Using Google Duo on the web is simple. All you have to do is connect with them credentials (including phone number) that you used to create your Duo account. You do not need to download applications.
First, go to duo.google.com in a web browser like Chrome.
If you are not logged in to your Google Account, do so click in the "Try Duo for Web" option.
After logging in, you will be asked to verify your phone number. Make sure the number displayed matches that in account and then click “Next”.
Google will send a text message to your phone with a verification code. Enter this number to confirm your account. If you did not receive the message, click "Resend SMS" or "Call Me".
Depending on the browser you are using, Google Duo may request shipping permission notifications about incoming calls. Click on "Got It" if you see this message and want to join.
Click "Allow" in the pop-up window asking for permission for "Show Notifications".
Now that you are logged in, you can use Duo to make or receive calls. Click "Start a Call" to search someone from his phone number or email. Select "Create a Group Link" to start a group call.
During a video call, you will see a toolbar at the top with the following icons:
- Microphone: Click on it to mute your microphone.
- Camcorder: Click this to turn off your camcorder for a voice-only call.
- Wide / Vertical Image Features: Click it to toggle between landscape and portrait video modes
- Full screen mode: Click this to make the video call in full screen.
- Settings: Click on it to select it microphone and camera that you want to use.
Click "End Call" at the bottom to end the call.
