Of the 15 models we have tested since 2016, the Instant Pot Duo 6-Quart is our favorite - the tests were done by the New York Times. The cooker offers excellent performance at a reasonable price and its tried and true design makes it easier to use than other smart hobs or cookers.
Instant Pot has released many different electric cookers, but we still believe that the Instant Pot Duo 6-Quart - one of the first models - she is the best choice for price of. It is extremely simple to use and performs all the basic functions, such as pressure cooking, sautéing and steaming, the same or better than various other models of other brands. While you miss some of the newer, more advanced features of Instant Pot, such as a large LCD screen or an auto-sealing lid, the Duo is more affordable model as it has all settings which we believe most home cooks need. We also know that the Duo is a reliable, simple machine that will it works for years without spoiling. Like all Instant Pot models, it comes with a stainless steel container, which is more durable than the non-stick containers offered by most brands.
The Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus - one of the newest models of the Instant Pot - comes with a number of small but impressive upgrades which make it more enjoyable to use. Some of the characteristics you will not find this model anywhere else. It is the only model with handles inside the container, a feature that not only allows you to easily lift the container, but also to avoid rotating the container as you sauté and stir. It also has a bright LCD screen - the largest of any Instant Pot model - and includes a sous vide function, which the Duo does not have. In addition to the automatic seal when you close it, the lid has a redesigned vent / seal switch that eliminates any uncertainty as to whether the container is sealed or not. Another advantage of the Duo Evo Plus is an extra sealing ring on the lid. Finally, the QuickCool disc which can be purchased separately and works exclusively with the Duo Evo Plus, reduces cooling - and therefore decompression time.
