It is probably no surprise to any iPhone owner that they can use the LED flash on the back of your iPhone as a flashlight. Apple has included the shortcut in the Control Center since iOS 7. But did you know that you can control the brightness of your iPhone lens? See how.
First, start Control Center on your iPhone using one of the two methods listed here:
- iPhone X or later: Swipe down from the top right of the screen.
- iPhone SE and iPhone 8 or earlier: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
When Control Center appears on your screen, press and hold icon of the lens.
After holding down the icon for a while, you will see a new screen with a lens icon at the top and a large slider five sections in the middle. The top means maximum lens brightness and the bottom means the lens is full off.
To change the brightness of the lens, slide your finger up and down along the slider. Or just tap the section corresponding to level you want. Be careful, brighter settings will reduce the battery of your iPhone faster.
When you have set it as desired, tap on the screen once and the slider will disappear, but the lens will remain on. To turn off the flashlight, restart it control Center (if necessary) and press icon with high lighting.
The next time you press the Control Center lens icon to turn it on, the last brightness setting you set in the slider will be preset.
Now you may be wondering: If you can adjust the brightness of the lens manually, how bright is the normal? By default, your iPhone flashlight lights up to the lowest setting, which Apple may set to maintain battery life.
