The hospital McLaren Oakland, informed this week at least 2.219 of his patients, that there is a possibility some of them personally data to have leak. According to the health center, one of them computers his has probably been violated.
Officials at non-profit hospital 328 beds in Pontiac, discovered a file on one of the institution's desktops containing an unauthorized and insecure link in a file that includes confidential patient health information, according to a hospital statement.
The link was accidentally left open by one of its employees hospitalHowever, an investigation into the incident did not reveal that it may have been used for illegal activity, McLaren Oakland said.
McLaren Hospital, which has informed them patients possibly affected by the incident, has applied additional training to staff to prevent similar incidents in the future. The Ministry of Health and Human Services of the Civil Rights Bureau has also been informed of the incident.
Patients were sent a letter asking them to carefully examine their financial information and credit reports for any irregularities or suspicious activity they did not recognize and to inform their financial institutions if problems were identified. The notification letter contains details of the free identity theft and security services offered through McLaren.
