Android: October 2020 updates fix 48 vulnerabilities

The security updates of October 2020, for Android, released and bring corrections for 48 vulnerabilities. These include some critical errors that affect Qualcomm closed-source components.

Twenty of the vulnerabilities described in the latter Android Security Bulletin corrected as part of the security patch level 2020-10-01. The most important of these errors is a vulnerability in System, which an attacker could use to gain more privileges (remote).

This month, they were totally fixed 10 issues on Android System and all were rated as very seriously. Both of them give to the attacker more privileges and the remaining eight allow for revelation information.

The above vulnerabilities affect Android runtime (a vulnerability which allows for the acquisition of more privileges and execution code), the Framework (two vulnerabilities to gain more privileges and three that allow information to be disclosed) and Media Framework (three high - severity information disclosure errors and one error more privileges of moderate severity).

The second part of this month's updates (2020-10-05) corrects a total of 28 errors. Vulnerabilities have been identified in Kernel (an error), in MediaTek components (five errors), in Qualcomm components (four errors) and in Qualcomm closed-source components (18 errors).

Twenty-two of these vulnerabilities are considered very serious, while six of those identified in Qualcomm closed-source components have been identified as critical.

According to Security Week, its updates 5th October fix all the vulnerabilities listed above, as well as those addressed in previous monthly updates.

The users of the devices pixel they do not need to do anything to protect themselves. The Appliances they are automatically informed in security patch level 2020-10-05. No updates were released this month security exclusively for Appliances Pixel.
