Google Maps enhances AR Live View with new features, such as more accurate locations for the saved. Another update is projection of the relative position of the characteristic sites, according to an announcement on the company blog.
The AR "Live View" feature was first released last May and uses camera to guide you visually on a path using large arrows and pins.
Now, Google Maps Live View also shows nearby attractions. The location of the sights, as well as the distance and the direction you have to take to get there, are shown in screen you.
For example, the feature can show you the direction and distance from a typical monument to help you navigate the area you are in. This feature includes other iconic landmarks, as well as places like local parks and even tourist attractions.
Google also integrates mode live instructions on the "Transition Instructions" tab. This can be useful if you plan to walk only part of the way - for example, if you use public transport and then have to walk to get to your destination.
When a friend shares their location with you, just tap their icon and then tap Live View to see the location and distance.
If someone shares a pin with you, Google Maps has been working to make pin locations more accurate, taking into account the elevation of a part. Although this feature is not yet available, the rest of these updates should already be available by now.
