Tor Project has released Tor Browser 10.0 to align with the latest version of Firefox ESR, the corporate version of the Mozilla browser.
Mozilla Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) is a corporate version of Firefox designed for stability and security in large organizations. As ESR build focuses on a business environment, it does not is updated so often to ensure stability, but receive all the latest security updates so businesses are protected.
As Tor Browser uses a custom version of Firefox ESR when releasing a new version of ESR, Tor Project is releasing a new version.
With Firefox 78.3esr released yesterday, September 22, 2020, Tor Browser 10.0 was released to align with this version.
No new features have been added to the Tor browser through this issue and is essentially a bug fix.
The individual errors are:
- Bug 33855: Do not use the website icon as a window icon in Windows in private mode
- Bug 40061: Skip the default browser factor Windows from the publication
- Bug 32252: Tor Browser does not display properly in VMWare Fusion on MacOS (mojave)
