The team UBports has officially announced the new OTA-13 (Over-The-Air-13) version for the Ubuntu touch operating system. According to team, this is the biggest operating system update to date. In addition to improvements in applications and the environment, the new version comes with compatibility for 6+ devices.
Changes and improvements to Ubuntu Touch OTA-13:
As we mentioned a while ago, the 13η Stable version of the operating system comes with improved compatibility for the devices Sony Xperia X, Sony Xperia X Compact, Performance and XZ, as well as for OnePlus 3 and 3T phones.
If you use any of the above devices, you can easily install the new one version of Ubuntu touch, using the installer from UBports. In addition, users can find the version in the update menu, which is in the system settings.
Of course, in addition to the best support, the new system includes many updates applications. For example, the latest version of Ubuntu Touch comes with QtWebEngine 5.14, which also brings a better version of Chromium. Thus, users have about 25% better performance when surfing the internet.
In addition to better search, users can now open files like PDF and MP3 directly in the browser. In addition to the above files, Chromium also supports all types of photos.
Speaking of graphics environment, you should know that the latest update brings the old settings icons to the main menu, something that the Canonical removed much earlier. This means that if your device has a smaller screen, you will only see icons in the menu, instead of lists of applications.
On the other hand, the system contains the new application for calls, which has been significantly updated and now allows the storage of dates, as well as contains better management of contacts. Furthermore, the application contains a new feature, which allows you to automatically pass your contacts using VCF files.
