More than 50 vulnerabilities are fixed on Android

On Monday, the Google released security updates for August 2020. The updates apply to the Android operating system, with patches for more than 50 vulnerabilities.

According to Google, the most important of the errors repaired with the new information, is a theme in the Framework that can be remotely exploited by an attacker to execute arbitrarily code as part of a non-privileged process, using a malicious file.

"The assessment of severity is based on the effect that the exploitation of vulnerability could have on an affected device, assuming that its mitigations platform "and services have been disabled for development purposes or if they are successfully bypassed," Google said.

Security update 2020-08-01, fixes 14 high-vulnerabilities in Framework, Media Framework and Android system.

The most serious flaws of the Media Framework and the system allow a malicious application to increase the privileges of a intruder, without requiring any user interaction.

Update 2020-08-05 fixes 40 vulnerabilities in AMLogic, Kernel, MediaTek and Qualcomm of the Android operating system.

The vulnerability in AMLogic, which was fixed this month, could allow a local attacker to execute arbitrary code, with increased permissions using a specially crafted file. At the kernel, developers have fixed three high-serious bugs that could lead to information leakage or a scaling-up attack.

In MediaTek data, there are five high-vulnerabilities that can be exploited to escalate privileges or to intercept information. All issues affect the multimedia editor.

In addition, more than 40 defects have been fixed in Qualcomm components. Most of them in closed source components. While most have been classified as high severity, about 6 of them have been classified as critical.

Google has also announced that it has fixed some device-specific vulnerabilities pixel.
