All these annoying marketing messages electronics of mail accumulated in your inbox they do not simply aim to promote products. They also track if you opened the email, when you opened it and where you were at the time, embedding it in the message software monitoring.

Just type "email tracking" into your search engine and you will see many applications appear.

There are several methods used to track email. For example, one of the simplest is through a redirect link. Suppose you click on a link you found in the ad that leads to the product page. The link is coded to be detectable. Before it takes you to the article, it goes to another server along with a variety of data, such as what browser you use or from which application you clicked the link.

However, while it is quite easy to locate a link, there are other ways to track email that are less obvious. The method we will see below is monitoring pixel.

How does it work; A single tracking pixel is embedded in the email, usually hidden inside an image or link. When the email is opened, the code in the pixel sends the information back to the company server.

Some efforts have been made to limit the amount of information that can be transferred in this way. For example, since 2014, the Google view all images through its own proxies, which could hide your location from certain email tracking applications.

Extensions like Ugly Mail and PixelBlock have been developed to block crawlers in Chrome and Firefox. There are also alternative browsers that emphasize privacy, such as Brave and Tor Browser.

But there is a simple step that will help you avoid several detectors: stop uploading images automatically from e-mail you. Most of these pixels are hidden in the images. You will not be able to avoid all the tracking programs that may be hidden in your email this way, but you will stop many of them.
