Recently, Uri Herrera, creator of Nitrux, announced the release of the new version of the operating system - Nitrux 1.3.0. According to Herrera, the latter version includes application updates, system performance improvements, and some bug fixes.
For those who don't know what Nitrux is, it's a distribution Linux, which associates a beautiful work environment with various portable package managers, such as APT and DPKG.
What changes does Nitrux 1.3.0 contain?
One of the most important changes in this version is the improved one appearance of the operating system. More specifically, Nitrux now features the updated version 5.19.2 of the KDE plasma desktop, the new KDE Framework 5.71.0, as well as the latest KDE App Bungle 20.04.02. In addition, the system comes with plasma splash and lock screen, which are similar to those of SSDM (Simple Display Desktop Manager).
In addition to the above changes, Nitrux 1.3.0 also contains an improved GTK theme, which matches the Kvantum theme, as well as the Plasma color scheme. Another change that the new GTK theme contains, is the default Fira Sans fonts, with which operating system it looks even more modern.
Continuing with the changes, we want to mention one of the new ones possibilities of wallpaper plugins, which allows you to choose the right background color, depending on how bright the day is. In addition, Nitrux now contains more wallpaper options.
Another feature of the new operating system is the execution of their applications Windows. Thanks to the new application Wine, users can now use Windows-built applications on Nitrux. In addition to Wine, the operating system contains other new applications, such as Inkspace 1.0 and Firefox 77.0.1.
Moving on, we come to the new Linux Kernel 5.6.0-1010, thanks to which the system has better performance and greater hardware support. Also, the operating system now contains:
- Ability to create Shared folder in VirtualBox.
- Support of AMD TEE drivers.
- Support for WireGuard VPN.
- USB4 Support.
How to use Nitrux?
In order to be able to test the operating system, you must first do so λήψη of its ISO file. After downloading the file, create a Bootable USB. All you have to do now is boot from your USB device.
