Recently, Alexander Tratsevskiy, head developer of Calculate Linux, announced the release of the new version of the operating system - Calculate Linux 20.6. The main purpose of the new version is to optimize the operating system, as well as the information of its applications.
Classically, the Calculate Linux (CL) 20.6 comes in different distributions, so as to meet the needs of each user. The latest version, like the previous ones, includes the Calculate Linux Desktop (CLD), Calculate Directory Server (CDS), Scratch (CLS), and Calculate Scratch distributions. Server & Hosting (CSS). In addition, the Desktop distribution comes with 5 different environments: KDE, Cinnamon, LXQT, MATE and Xfce.
Each of the Calculate Linux distributions comes with improvements to the corresponding system, while also bringing many updated applications. Some of these applications are KDE applications 19.12.2, GIMP 2.10.18, Chromium 83.0.4103.106, Claws Mail 3.17.5, Kernel 5.4.45 and LibreOffice 22.214.171.124.
For example, in CL 20.06, the Chromium Browser comes with a pre-installed uBlock Origin extension, which is responsible for content filtering. In addition, the updated chromium contains the Passman and FreedomMarks extensions, which support NextCloud.
Another change in the CL 20.06 version is the new sound system. From now on, the operating system will use PulseAudio as the default sound system. However, Advanced Linux Sound Architecture continues to exist, and users can use it whenever they wish.
Along with the above changes, in the latest version we have a better performance of Zram (which replaces the classic Swap partition). In addition, the time required for boot-up was significantly reduced.
