Much has been said about the new iPad Pro and its Magic Keyboard Apple. However, we had to try this new combination as soon as it became available.
We started by making the well-known comparison between the new and the old. The new iPad Pro 12.9 is much larger than the 2018 model with the 11-inch screen. The difference in keyboards is also noticeable. We'll move on to the mechanical differences in a minute, but only the net size difference will tell you everything you need to know about how nice it is to type on the Magic Keyboard with the iPad Pro 12,9 ”.
The Magic Keyboard has keys scissor-switch with a distance of 1 mm, so typing on them is quick and easy. This is essentially the same keyboard that comes with it MacBook Air. Another nice touch is the way the backlight automatically adjusts to ambient light (you can change that in your iPad Pro settings).
The construction of the Magic Keyboard is quite robust. You will not be able to accidentally close your iPad (which was the case with the Smart Keyboard Folio). Magnets are also extremely powerful, so the iPad Pro is not easily detached from the keyboard when you adjust the viewing angle.
In terms of thickness, Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard Folio are practically identical. Apple has managed to fit such a compact keyboard in a fairly small space.
So is the Magic Keyboard the perfect typewriter?
The scissor-switch keys are a huge leap in relation to its membrane chiclets Smart Folio keyboard. The built-in trackpad, while challenged even in its latest version iPadOS, solves one of the biggest problems we see with typing cases in tablets.
The biggest drawback with this latest version, however, is surprisingly the result of the Magic Keyboard's biggest advantage, namely its size.
The support that allows you to have the perfect viewing angle for your iPad does not fold like the Smart Keyboard Folio. If you like and use your iPad Pro for reading, you will often be able to leave the keyboard behind as you open the tablet, to read without charge.
In general, Apple has done well this time around and we're sure it will leave consumers satisfied with what they prefer.
