Using "old" smartphones jeopardizes your safety

smartphonesSome security researchers have discovered that the use of old iPhone and Android smartphones can put them at risk users, as it is vulnerable to hacking attacks. The attacks can target either espionage of users either on theft of personal information.

What do we mean by an old phone? We mean the phones that have not received any software updates for a year or two.

A security researcher from Comparitech.comBrian Higgins said: "Unsupported software and hardware they are serious risk for consumers, as there is no protection from them Criminals at cyberspace“. He also said that any vulnerability can be used by them hackers and users can do nothing to prevent it since they cannot download antivirus software. Unsupported Appliances do not accept updates security, which makes them "incredibly vulnerable".

The expert also said that it was shocking how quickly the "support" of smartphones stopped. For example, any device prior to iPhone 6 (including iPhone 6) cannot be updated with the latest software iOS 13 from Apple.

Things are even worse for Android phones. Experts say many of these smartphones stop receiving updates after just two or three years.

There have even been some cases where Android phones have stopped receiving updates after just a year or so. Malicious hackers consider them old devices are easy targets. So we all need to check if our devices are still receiving updates to make sure we stay safe.
