As Samsung Electronics president Young Sohn said, speaking at TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin, the company has "sold one million of these products".
"There are a million people who want to use this $ 2.000 product each," he said. "We sold a million products."
To the question whether the company he feels comfortable selling a device beta, at the astronomical sum of almost $ 2000, Sohn replied that "it is still a pretty good device in my opinion" and explained that Fold's availability to consumers gives the company the necessary feedback to improve it.
"This is gen 1 and this product will get better, thinner and lighter, with longer battery"He said.
Galaxy Fold was originally scheduled for release in April on 2019, but was canceled after users who used it reported many issues with their controls. After several delays, a renewed version of Fold was finally launched in September.
The users they seem to be particularly pleased with Fold's cooling factor and the folding screen, but most noted that the software still needed a lot of work, among other things.
However, despite the above, it seems that there is a lot of interest in Fold. Selling 1 million units over a period of 3 months is a respectable number. It may not be the main revenue stream of the company, but it is an accurate one device.
Samsung is reportedly planning to launch yet another foldable phone phone next February, which will however be more economical. In addition, the release of a more complete and sophisticated Galaxy Fold successor is expected later on 2020.
