New phishing scam uses Excel and PDF files!

New scam involves shipment phishing emails to recipients who declare that "you will not be able to open Excel, PDF or any document file due to system delays".

How does the new scam work?

The hackers send phishing emails to recipients stating that "you will not be able to open Excel or any document file due to system delays".

To access the files, victims are asked to verify their account by clicking the "Configure Excel and PDF" button that comes with the email.


Once users click on the button, they are transferred to a login form hosted on SharePoint that pretends to be a common Excel document.

This fake login form asks victims to enter their username and password.

When the user enters logins, the information is stored by accessing hackers. They can use these stolen credentials for fraud BEC or account redemption attacks.
