The same group of hackers appears to be hiding behind recent attacks on various celebrities' Instagram accounts. The same group seems to be still planning such attacks to launch scam sites to the following accounts.
The most recent cases were the Instagram account of the famous Iron Man aka Robert Downey Jr. with 43.2 million followers by singer Nicole Scherzinger - as we saw and here- and actors Yanet García and Chloë Moretz.
So far, when hackers hack into celebrity's Instagram account, they post multiple links leading to other pages. These include surveys, which are used to steal personal information. So not only can they sell the information provided by users who respond to “investigations”, But they also earn a fee as a fee for each completed survey.
The fact that the attacks were carried out in a repetitive pattern triggered the curiosity of the researchers. Initially all accounts were violated within two weeks. Also, links to surveillance information were posted on all of them. Then, after the account was hacked, the hackers wrote to the bio that it was being given iPhone XS as a gift from the account holder and directed followers to another page for other relevant offers.
In the case of Nicole Scherzinger, hackers wrote to bio that there is a movie link of erotic content available. This seemed to be a more effective bait. Then they promised to publish the movie when his counter download for free reached 5.000.
