Install Windows ROK licenses in an ESXi / Hyper-V environment on HP branded servers

Windows ROK: The following error occurred when installing a license HP Branded Windows 2012 / 2016 R2 ROK (Reseller Option Kit) in VMware ESXi 5.5 and later.

The cause of this problem is that Windows server does not recognize "hardware" as an HP Proliant server, so the license will not succeed because a Reseller Option Kit (ROK) is being used.

There is a simple solution. A parameter can be added so that VM "thinks" that it is running on real material.

Once you have created the VM, go to the option Edit Settings / Options / General and select "Configuration Parameters".

Add a row, paste it «Smbios.reflecthost"As name and true as a value.

Windows ROK

Keep in mind that VM must first be shut down to make this change. HyperV In Hyper-V case, the process is different. The way of the environments Hyper-V is to add a registry key to VM.
