Vulnerability in Internet Explorer can be used by hackers

ExplorerΗ microsoft has recently encountered several security issues in its products. Now, one of these issues is about Internet Explorer. Although the browser has lost a large market share, it is still used. Recently, however, an issue has been revealed that could endanger its users browser.

The issue has to do with a file format, called MHTs. For those who do not know or remember, this is the format that Microsoft used to store web pages in Internet Explorer.

Today, websites are saved as templates and standard HTML files. However, Internet Explorer still has the ability to open it.

So who is the danger?

MHT files automatically open in Internet Explorer. In addition, a specially crafted MHT file can give hackers the ability to access local files by opening the file alone.

Who is affected by this vulnerability?

It has been found that this vulnerability affects Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2012 R2.

Microsoft said it knew about it vulnerability but she is not prepared to do anything immediately to correct it. The company said it was something to think about in the future.

Although many people are not using Internet Explorer anymore, it does not mean that vulnerability should not be corrected immediately. There are still several businesses that use the browser because it is compatible with specific Microsoft services.

In addition, some Windows systems come with Internet Explorer pre-installed.

Therefore, since it is used, some measures have to be taken, as it is very easy to find a user at risk. Opening an MHT file is enough for hackers to take action.
