Bayer, a pharmaceutical company based in Germany, has been hacked, according to reports released in German on Thursday.
Behind the attack a group was hidden hackers, called "Winnti". Hackers managed to gain access to Bayer's network to track the company. To accomplish this, they used some malware. The attack began at the beginning of 2018. For about a year hackers watched the drug company but there were no data leaks.
The Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) and Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) radio stations reported that there was some evidence and analysis to find out what was happening.
Η company in turn, confirmed that she was hacking but that there were no data and information leaks.
However, he did not want to talk about it as long as the investigations were made.
The location of the Winnti team was not easy, according to former head of the German intelligence agency BND, Gerhard Schindler.
However, Bayer is not the first company to be the victim of this particular group. According to sources of radio stations, the same malicious software found at Bayer, was found in Thyssenkrupp, 2016. This year, it was also found in three other German companies.
