Offensive Security announced on Monday Kali's immediate availability Linux 2019.1, the latest version of the Debian-based operating system, specifically designed for penetration testing and forensic investigations.
Kali Linux 2019.1 fixes over twelve errors, updates the kernel to 4.19.13 and upgrades a significant number of packages.
The most important update concerns Metasploit, which has been upgraded to 5.0. The latest version of the Penetration Testing Framework introduces new features, improves performance and is easier to use.
The DBeaver and Harvester packages have also been updated on Kali Linux 2019.1.
Developers of Kali Linux also announced that ARM is re-adding support for BANANA PI and BANANA PRO computers. They also say that Raspberry Pi images have been simplified to make it easier for users.
“There are no longer separate Raspberry Pi images for users with TFT LCD screens, because we now include the re4son kalipi-tft-config script, so if you want to install a TFT board, run 'kalipi-tft-config' and follow them instructions, ”the developers explained.
Users can update their existing installations or download a new Kali Linux image for the 2019.1 version via HTTP or torrent.
2018 released four versions of Kali Linux, while 2017 three.
