Microsoft has decided to stop Skype's Highlight feature, an option added by the company in an attempt to give its messaging platform a more social touch.
More like a competitor in Snapchat Stories, Skype Highlights have not been impressed, and although Microsoft says that the reason for pausing is to simplify the use of the application, the reason is very likely to be the small userbase.
In a statement this week, Microsoft explains that Highlights will continue to be available until September 30 and then they will stop forever.
“We listened to your comments and took a step to simplify Skype. With this approach you will see that we have removed Highlights. We have now focused on Chats, Calls and Contacts, making your access to Skype even easier. The highlights you had post-lift will be available for viewing or downloading through 30 September 2018 via settings, "the company said.
Microsoft says it is currently working on improving Skype not only by removing unnecessary features but also adding new ones so that the latest versions of the application will bring several improvements to this issue.
For example, Microsoft has redesigned the way to add a response to a message. The company says a new message experience is evolving for all users worldwide.
Microsoft worked hard to make Skype a widely used messaging service not only on the desktop but also on the mobile, with Android and iOS to upgrade to new changes with community reactions being mixed.
The makeover, however, continues with every update, and Microsoft promises to "listen and take action" every time a new release is released. Highlights are the living proof that our company is listening!
