This is the conclusion of the DxO, which examined the Galaxy S9 Plus camera against the current leaders iPhone X and Google Pixel 2.
On the Galaxy S9 Plus, the 12-megapixel main camera with 1 / 2,55 ”sensor and f / 1,5 / f / 2,4 variable aperture lens is combined with a 12-megapixel secondary camera with 1 / 3,6” sensor, 2 telephoto lens and f / 2,4 aperture lens, both with OIS, but only the main one has dual pixel PDAF.
DxO says the Galaxy S9 Plus beats the Google Pixel 2 by a total of 104 points in the Photo test. Regarding the videos, the support of 4K video at 60 fps and 720p at 960 fps contributed to the final rating of 91 points.
Tests show that Samsung has spent more time optimizing photo editing software, so noise is controlled well regardless of the conditions, although S9 Plus suffers from occasional exposure instabilities and light color outcomes.
The device was praised for its photo detail in outdoor and indoor conditions, fast and accurate autofocus, and up to 4x zoom resolution.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is a smartphone without real weaknesses in the camera segment. In both capture and video modes, it performs well, ensuring consistent image quality in all lighting and shooting conditions, thus earning the highest DxOMark Mobile grade to date.
Samsung's Galaxy S9 Plus has won the first place for exposure and contrast, autofocus and flash performance. On the other hand, it had the lowest effect on the bokeh effect, the objects, and the zoom. In the video test, it received more points for color and stabilization, but did not have the same results when it comes to texture.
