Google plans to buy a part of HTC that worked for Pixel and Pixel XL devices for the amount of 1,1 billion.
The Pixel Series has been a great success for her Google and it is logical that the company aims to set up its own phones without the help of a third-party construction company. But let's note that today, despite much money, Google lags behind in human resources and know-how.
Many thought Google would buy out HTC as the latter recently announced it would stop all stock transactions. But it seems that Google does not need the whole company but only the people who work for it.
Google decided to buy the "Powered by HTC" team that worked on the devices pixel and Pixel 2. Overall, about 2.000 employees will be moved by HTC to Google. On the one hand this move seems a little strange but on the other hand this tactic is regularly applied in the sports field.
Best of all, HTC will continue to build its flagship line, and Google has made a non-exclusive license agreement for various patents.
HTC also referred to the virtual reality business VIVE developed in collaboration with Valve, noting that it will not be affected by this collaboration.
However, despite the good name and success of their previous devices, HTC was going through a difficult period, so we hope that this agreement will yield a lot of cash without losing its independence.
