As we mentioned in our previous appointment, LG is very close to the official launch of its latest flagship, the highly anticipated G6 smartphone. The company has decided that the presentation will be hosted in Barcelona on February 26 and its slogan is "See more, Play more".
As the day gets closer and more information is published about the new phone with the most recent coming from Business Korea claiming LG will work with Google and Amazon to integrate the virtual assistant, Google Assistant and Alexa, into its devices.
The report argues that G6 will include Google Assistant while LG's rising smartphones will be equipped with Alexa, the Amazon virtual assistant. It is remarkable that many devices, such as Huawei's Mate 9, are already equipped with Alexa as well as a large number of LG devices (refrigerators), making it even easier to install on mobile devices. This does not make us any special impression as Amazon is the star of CES 2017 although it has not announced new products this year.
Google Assistant is currently only on pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, making it unlikely for Google to abandon its virtual assistant's exclusivity, but nothing seems to be impossible.
So if Google decides to work with another developer, LG would be the most appropriate choice as it is the Nexus creator and is going to build the upgrades Google smartwatches running on Android Wear 2.0.
