Many OEMs are working on the Android Nougat update for their daughters phones, although some of them like HTC have encountered some problems and were forced to stop the process. Sony seems to take the lead, as the company has begun to spread the software update and the relatively old Xperia Z5 phones.
Sony has now become one of the fastest companies to release the Nougat software updates long before smartphone makers. Back in November, because the company started running the 7.0 Nougat update on Xperia X Performance. Instead, Samsung has finished a program beta end of December.
The Xperia XZ quickly followed and received the Nougat update, while the Xperia X and Xperia X Compact were treated to an updated update from the same Android OS version just last month. Obviously, Sony has continued to work to optimize the new UI and new features within Nougat to bring them to even more Xperia smartphones. The Xperia X Concept began taking Android 7.1.1 Nougat earlier this month.
Sony has just begun to run it 7.0 Nougat update on Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium phones, with the build number 32.3.A.0.372, according to XperiaBlog. The update will soon arrive at Zperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z3 + and Xperia Z4 as well.
As expected, the new software update will bring support for exciting Nougat features such as multi-windows that allow users to run two applications at once and switch between them with a double tap. Sony will also provide longer battery life for mobile phones receiving updates, as well as a self-timer button for front cameras, making it easier to snap selfies.
