A recent weakness in CMS Joomla has led Top.Host to disable the admin environment!
The company announced that their technicians were forced for security reasons to block http access to the administrator environment of the websites. See below the announcement [here]:
It should be noted that the Joomla CMS is among the most widespread in Greece mainly for company presentation websites or e-shops. Therefore, a large number remains unpatched and automated tools can identify websites and target or alter them.
From her side Top.Host it is extremely important that it has updated its customers about the security issue in Joomla CMS, which shows the seriousness of such issues. On the other hand, we expect it to make a massive upgrading of all Unpatched Joomla on its servers so that even unrelated customers are protected. Because some modules may not work after the Update, this can certainly be dealt with by case-by-case technicians.
More generally, the level of managed service hosting in Greece seems to be significantly deficient compared to its counterpart. Perhaps it is the operating model that hosting companies and related providers should focus in the near future to provide Greek customers with high-standard, high-security services combined with a reasonable low cost.
